Mamma Mia~The Movie~The Music

Mamma Mia is a really fun, poignant movie and I love some of the music. Meryl Streep is absolutely and definitely one of the most talented people in show biz. Who knew she can sing along with everything else? Love her and love this song in particular.

"Schoolbag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile
I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness
And I have to sit down for a while
The feeling that I'm losing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl

Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sleep in our eyes, her and me at the breakfast table
Barely awake, I let precious time go by
Then when she's gone there's that odd melancholy feeling
And a sense of guilt I can't deny
What happened to the wonderful adventures
The places I had planned for us to go
(Slipping through my fingers all the time)
Well, some of that we did but most we didn't
And why I just don't know

Slipping through my fingers all the time

I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture
And save it from the funny tricks of time
Slipping through my fingers

Slipping through my fingers all the time

Schoolbag in hand she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile"

What mom of a daughter does not relate? This song makes me cry every single time I hear it.

I also really love this one! The Winner Takes It All!

And we (the girls in the audience) should all play this one and dance around once a day just because it would be fun and energizing and we all are Dancing Queens!

I'm glad you liked the movie. That seems like a perfect activity for girlfriends. I'm planning on going as soon as it comes to Ft Mac. Who would have thought that I would miss the Concord Brendon and compared to the Ft Mac theatre it is extremely clean and tidy.

I agree, Michelle...is would be a fabulous girl time activity. I went with my sister-in-law for her birthday and we both loved it. So sorry your area is lacking in movie theaters. Bummer. It will come eventually hopefully or you can buy it when it comes out as a last resort! Thank goodness or Amazon! Coming down for a visit any time soon?

Wow, I haven't even heard of this movie but I can't wait until it hits the theaters here. I will have to invite my friends to see it with me for a girls night out. The songs are awesome. I agree the first one is very touching. It made me cry too. Not only for my kids but because it helped me understand they way you feel about us. Thanks for sharing mom.
