Last Day/First Day

Jim's last day of work was a whirlwind and he said it was the perfect day. He was exhausted from all the excitement! They had another luncheon and ice cream party and everyone was so kind. Even the boys got wind of his leaving and came up with their thanks and one boy even made him a present and gave him a note saying Jim was the best teacher he had ever had. Sweet. He has very mixed feelings about leaving the job and place that was, in his own words...A perfect fit for him!

Like his Grandpa before him, Jim always liked to
lay out his work clothes on the hearth the night before~
Last morning to see this!

Last school lunch I will ever make? What in the world...how can it be?

He rushed home just in time for us to
go and pick up Chris from the airport.

Grandma Gloria and Chris

We went straight to Grandma Gloria's house for dinner as she hadn't seen her only grandson in over a year. We all had a happy reunion with him. We did not stay too long as we still had some last minute things to prepare before leaving for Yosemite. Chris hadn't been home since the day before we ripped the wallpaper off the kitchen walls so there was a lot for him to see for the first time. He gave us his sign of approval for the work we have been doing for the last 18 months. It was nice having him sleep back in his old bedroom again! We all slept well and were ready to go to Yosemite in the morning!

Here's a little glimpse of what we saw yesterday!
First day of a future full of wonderful Saturdays! Woot!

HI GIRLY,
WAS SO TOUCHED BY YOUR POST ABOUT JIM'S LAST DAY!! WHEN PEOPLE SAY AND DO SUCH NICE THINGS IT MAKES IT HARD TO WALK AWAY. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU BOTH. THIS WAS A GREAT WAY FOR HIM TO KICK OFF HIS 2ND DAY OF RETIREMENT AND SO WONDERFUL THAT CHRIS CAN BE WITH YOU FOR A FEW DAYS, I PRAY THE LORD SLOWS THE TIME FOR YALL. WE PRAYED YOU WOULD ALL BE SAFE TODAY.

SO DID YOU HAVE TO GET A ROOT CANAL??? IF SO I HOPE IT WASN'T BAD.

MY ARM IS DOING BETTER, AND I HAVE TYPED WITH MY RIGHT HAND JUST A TEENY BIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I AM NOT IN PAIN BUT KNOW MY ARM AND ALL IS STILL NOT RIGHT AND I HAVE SOME COLDNESS IN MY ARM IN PLACES AND THE NUMBNESS I USUALLY HAVE IN MY FINGERTIPS HAS GONE FURTHER UP
A COUPLE OF FINGERS, THEY ARE NOT TOTALLY NUMB THO, SO WE ARE JUST PRAYING DAILY AND THINGS SEEM TO BE GETTING BETTER DAILY. I AM USING MY ARM FOR THE MOST PART, JUST NOT FOR EXERCISE, TYPING OR PRUNING OR OVERSTRETCHING TO REACH ANYTHING - THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT REALLY SEEM TO INFLAME IT.

HAVE BEEN ASKING THE LORD SHOULD I GO TO THE CHIROPRACTOR OR TO AN ORTHOPEDIC DR. BUT GOT NO ANSWER YET I SEEMED TO FEEL A PEACE ABOUT JUST LEAVING IT BE FOR NOW, SO THAT IS WHAT WE'RE DOING AND IT HAS IMPROVED SO WE ARE TRUSTING FOR COMPLETE IMPROVEMENT OR HEALING.

YOU HAVE A SWEET AND PEACEFUL DAY
THERE WITH YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER AT THAT WONDERFUL PARK. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE PICS CAUSE THE ONE IN THIS POST IS GREAT.

IF YOU GET LONESOME TRY TO INSTANT MESSAGE ME, IF YOU SEE I AN ONLINE.

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND DELIGHTFUL DAY!!
LOVE YA, NELLIE

That must have been a bitter/sweet day for Jim. I love the picture of his mom - she looks so young. What is her secret? (Please don't tell me good Italian blood, b/c I can't get that anywhere). Chris must have loved this trip home and I hope you all have a safe and happy time in Yosemite. All the years we lived there and we've never been.

I looked through Laura's cruise blog and she was on a better ship than Nicki and I were on a few years ago. I didn't love cruising, but would try it again if I were on a newer ship. Ours was with RC and it was an old ship, infact, RC retired it after our cruise. She bought some amazing things.

I also checked out your newly remodeled kitchen and love it. The colors and materials are amazing. DId you get new cabinets or just paint/refinish your old ones. Mine need some cosmetic touch-ups, okay, more like plastic surgery!
