Odd Ducks Among Us!

flickr

Odd ducks, we all know some. Sometimes I think we get more than our share out here in CA.

Quoting ABC news...

"I'm sure you've heard by now that some are saying that the end of the world will take place today, May 21, at precisely 6 p.m.-- that's local time wherever you happen to be, in case you're planning a cookout. This means that you'll be able watch the destruction ripple its way across the globe until it reaches you. Oh, happy day!"

Well, just reporting in from Harold's neck of the woods...all is well over here. The sun is shining, the breeze is rustling the treetops, people are BBQing and the neighborhood dogs are barking, but not in the alarming way like they do when something is about to happen and they sense it. Looks like Mr. Camping is going to have to pay his lease payment again next month, after all.

How is it that people can start something like this and then it goes viral and everyone is talking about it? I need money, if I start something like this, will you all listen?

It is not that we do not believe in prophecy or that we do not believe Christ will return to the earth because we by all means do. We also believe in His words which clearly state in Mark 13..

28. "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

29. So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

30.Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

31. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

32. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

33. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is."

If you study the scriptures you know that many things will proceed the Second Coming of Christ. We see many of them in our day. But not all have come to pass. But the point is we are to watch and prepare for His Second Coming one day at a time, putting oil in our lamps each day. Our Heavenly Father is the only one that knows when.

Sorry, Mr. Camping....You have got to read the book before you can predict the ending. And then you will know you cannot do that because the day and the hour is not appointed for you to know.

In fact, as I was cooking today I was thinking about when I use to teach La Maze to expectant parents. It occurred to me that predicting the end of world is a bit like getting a due date for the birth of your baby. I use to tell my students, in 98% of the cases you can rest assured it will not be that day! Oh, it could happen, but not because someone predicted it, the baby was just ready. When the time is right it will happen.

I have always said I think our Father in Heaven has a
good sense of humor. Maybe I can make my millions by spreading that around and that actually the joke is on us all...because it may be tomorrow!

The point is, put a little oil in your spiritual lamp each day and then you don't have to worry about it. Just have faith and sit back and let God take care of His stuff and you take care of yours! And when a person is 89 years old, it is true, the Second Coming is nigh at hand. It is my prediction that you will meet your Maker soon enough at that age, but it just may be a one on one experience. Until then we all have to keep paying our bills.

We will all live to see the Second Coming of Christ in our o
wn time and way. Relatively few of all the people that have lived on the earth will be here, in the flesh, for the big occasion when Christ will return to the earth to rule and reign. It has never been about when, it is about how prepared will we be. Will we know Him when we see Him and will it be a great or dreadful day for us?

What a great post Bonnie,
I so agree with everything you said!!

Last week
I was thinking maybe the Lord allows these odd ducks to make people think about the coming of the lord,
cause I never heard about the coming of the Lord until I was almost 19 years old, and some people have never heard of Christ's coming at all!
But now they have heard this, maybe it will cause them to think about it and if they are ready or not, or when it does happen.....if they have not turned their hearts toward Jesus, maybe they will. the Lord never wastes anything!!

My Jim made a good point for Mr. Odd Duck or any of us to think upon.

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come!!

And who knows when the gospel has
been spread thru all the nations....

Again the answer is in the scripture you shared, Mark 13:32

Only God the Father knows the day or the hour.......

Good post,
Blessings, Nellie
